Elemental Happiness
Using philosophical concepts from Traditional Chinese Medicine to find a path toward emotional and societal wellness
Find out how we began Our Journey
This blog is a collaboration between four women working to build emotional literacy — understanding and interpreting emotions — through a framework based on the Five Elements in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
This tradition uses the idea of five natural elements — Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood — to describe different aspects of people. When these elements are in balance, the result is happiness. We use this framework to help us better relate to others and to understand ourselves.
Rather than telling people to find peace simply by exercising or meditating more, we want to give people targeted, actionable solutions to address the problems which cause them anxiety and depression. We do this by showing the connections between us as individuals, our elemental imbalances, and the context of the imbalances in our environment.
